Several current and potential candidates will join Benzie County Democrats for their annual fundraiser at the Betsie River Centennial Lily Farm on July 19 at 3:00 pm.
Tom Stobie, announced candidate for the 101st State Representative seat in 2016 will be there, along with former 101st District State Representative Dan Scripps. Former candidate for the first Congressional District, Jerry Cannon, will also attend. Lon Johnson may attend. He recently resigned as head of the Michigan Democratic Party to run for the First Michigan Congressional District now held by Republican Dan Benishek.
There will be finger food, wine, nonalcoholic punch, and water to drink. It is expected that those attending will give a minimum of a $10. All proceeds will be used by the local Democratic Party to support 2016 candidates for the 101st District and the First Congressional District of Michigan. The Lily Farm is at 17745 Moore Road, Thompsonville. To get there, take U.S. 31 South towards Manistee. Turn left on North Manistee County Line Road. Go three miles to Moore Rd. Turn right on Moore Rd. Go approx. 1.5 miles to the Centennial Lily Farm. It will be on your left. There is a sign.
