The Michigan Justice Advocacy is working to get a proposal on the ballot that provides incentives for incarcerated people to gain “Good Time” credits for complying with the governing policies of the institution in which they are held. For example, an inmate could earn a 30-day reduction in their sentence for 30 days of compliant behavior.
In addition to potentially saving the Michigan prison system billions of dollars, it creates the opportunity for rehabilitation rather than just punishment. The “Good Times” measure would allow inmates to demonstrate in a measurable way that they are transformed and prepared to re-enter society.

If you agree that this measure should be placed on the ballot, please visit Benzie Democratic Headquarters on Tues. or Thurs. between 1 pm and 4 pm to sign a petition for your county. The organizers must collect at least 356,958 signatures to appear on the November 2024 ballot.
