All Benzie County Democrats are invited to a free winter holiday celebration on Friday, Dec. 6, at 5:30 p.m. The pot-luck dinner will be followed by socializing and live music. Meat and some beverages will be provided, or if preferred, celebrants may bring their own alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverages, along with and a dish to share. The party is at the Grow Benzie facility, which is on highway M-115 between Benzonia and Frankfort. Music will be provided by Mike Ross and friends.
In the spirit of holiday sharing, donations for the Benzie County Baby Pantry will be collected at the party. Sponsored by St. Phillips Episcopal Church, the pantry is a 501c3 organization, so donations of goods or cash are tax deductible. The Baby Pantry serves families with infants and young children in Benzie and northern Manistee counties. Items provided as available range from diapers and baby food to clothing and baby equipment. The pantry uses cash donations most often to purchase formula, diapers, wipes, shampoo, and so on. Items particularly needed are snow pants in sizes to age 6, diapers, new bottles (BPA free), bibs, rice baby cereal, and baby oil, wash, rash creams, lotion, and shampoo.
