These last few weeks have been a grand reminder of why we live in Northern Michigan — amazing weather and beautiful blooms! And our meetings this summer will be a great reminder of why we support the Benzie Dems and the next Big Blue Wave!
First off, there are now two compelling Democrats competing for a chance to unseat our immensely disappointing, out-of-touch northern Michigan congressman, Jack ‘MIA’ Bergman.
Most of us are familiar with Dr. Bob Lorinser, who ran against Rep. Bergman last time around. Bob intends to capitalize on all that his campaign accomplished in 2022, when he showed us he’s an awesome policy guy, steeped in public service both as a doctor and as a U.S. diplomat.
Callie is newer to us. She zoomed briefly with us back in April–just enough to introduce herself and her compelling story. But we have yet to hear all that she wants to work for as our northern Michigan congresswoman.
That changes June 17. Callie will be at Headquarters at 9:30 a.m. for our monthly meeting. We’ll start off by sharing our plans for the Frankfort and Beulah 4th of July parades; hear about the LGBTQ support group just launched at St. Philip’s; and preview our big Sept. 30 fundraiser, a fun-packed night of good food, fine peeps, and great music for both watching and moving,
Then Callie will take the stage — in person at HQ as well as online–and tell us her story, answer our questions, and help us get to know each other. Don’t miss this chance to hear from her! Meanwhile, if you’d like to study up on Callie, you can visit her Web site.
Just so you know: Benzie Dems, as a party, cannot endorse either Callie or Dr. Bob because they are facing off in a primary. But it’s totally fine for YOU to pick and support a candidate sometime soon…and we hope you do! Both Bob and Callie are doing an incredibly difficult and brave thing standing up for us.
So MARK YOUR CALENDAR for June 17. If you can’t make it in person, we’ll be Zooming, of course. Just click here to register.
P.S. Dr. Bob will be joining us in person at ourĀ August 19 meeting.
