We know Benzie County faces lots of challenges–childcare, affordable housing, jobs, and more, right?
Well, there are people working hard on some of those things. And at our next meeting, Saturday, Oct. 21, starting at 9:30 a.m., we’ll hear from folks working on two biggies: internet and college.
First, Maggie Bacon, an Empire neighbor who’s part of the Best Benzie County group. They’re working on bringing Benzie into Northwestern Michigan College’s “in-service district” so our folks can better afford going to a local college.
We’ll leave the details to Maggie, who will tell us how we can help.
And then it’s Tim Maylone, CEO of Cherry Capital Connections, working in Benzie on providing fast, widespread, affordable service.
But how fast? How widespread? How much? And how soon?
Tim says he’ll answer these and other tough questions. He’s got all sorts of info, especially for those still waiting for even halfway decent internet.
Tim will talk about which companies are working where, how things are going, and whether struggling families can afford service. The county declined to treat broadband like a utility–so we’re counting on private companies like Tim’s. Get your questions ready!
