Join us at Headquarters–right next to the Cherry Bowl Drive-In–this Saturday morning, Nov. 18. We’ll start at 9:30 a.m. with another round of coffee along with our increasingly famous, homemade, sweet and savory breakfast treats and warm conversation. Then we’ll move on to a whole heap of good news, previews, and we-need-yous!
It’s been quite the year in Lansing for Michigan Dems, eh? And one of those great, get-‘er-done Dems is our own Betsy Coffia. Her district may include only our own Platte and Inland Townships, but she makes all of us, all across the county, happy and proud!
We’ll start off with community announcements at 10, including Aubrey Parker’s close look at last week’s Benzie vote tallies, and a preview of next month’s all-day Comfort & Joy party.
Then we’ll hear from Rep. Coffia to celebrate the accomplishments of the legislature this last session, hear what’s up for next session, and learn what we can do to make sure we re-elect Betsy next November. We’ll have a chance to ask questions too.
Can’t make it to HQ Saturday morning? No worries–come Zoom with us! We get going at 9:30, too, enjoying our own, virtual coffee klatch. Save your place by clicking here.
And hey, this is a new one: If you’re joining us at Headquarters Saturday, we’ve got some homework for ya…if you’re into it!
Here’s the deal: Recently, your Executive Committee slightly re-worked Benzie Dems ByLaws, debated them, and waved them thru. Members can now vote on them, up-or-down. We’ll do that, lickity- split, at the top of the meeting.
So, dear members, we invite you to click here and check ’em out, and then vote on Saturday. We appreciate your participation!
Ready for More Comfort & Joy?
Our big day of Holiday community giving is Saturday, December 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Headquarters. Put it on your dance card and please keep Benzie’s many struggling families in your heart while shopping over the next few weeks.
Once again we’ll collect food, baby pantry items, and cash or check donations for Benzie Food Partners, in Honor, and St. Philip’s Baby Pantry, in Benzonia. We’ll soon list the top needs of both fine organizations but, right now, please make a plan to stop by, enjoy our delicious Holiday food and drinks, share our cheer, and help out some of Benzie’s too-many struggling families. It’s a real heart-warmer and a fine time too!
Time to start working on the next Big Blue Wave!
Here are some of the things we need help with right now, with more to follow. We’ll train you and you’ll team up with a great bunch of folks as we dig in on building Benzie’s next Big Blue Wave!
Check out just some of the help we are looking for…
HELP WANTED: Front Desk Staff: Early in 2024 we will start keeping the office open a LOT. We need people for two- or three-hour shifts on phones, doing little jobs around the office, and greeting visitors. Hit REPLY if you’d like to help out. It’s mostly a very peaceful gig.
HELP WANTED: Township Lookouts Our coolest project: Lookouts report on their township (or city’s) board meetings and we pass the info along to our members and friends in those townships. We really need Lookouts for Crystal Lake, Gilmore, and Blaine Townships. You don’t need to live in that township; we take your very basic notes and turn them into a reader-friendly format. Our Lookouts say it’s very interesting work. Please consider this! Just email us at [email protected] to learn more about it.
HELP WANTED: Office coordinators We have a very well-organized, nicely set-up office, but we need a couple people to help keep it that way–checking in from time to time, seeing what needs to be done, keeping the staff schedule straight, and a few other things. We can split this into several positions if need be. Again, just email us at [email protected] to learn more.
OKAY! We look forward to seeing you Saturday morning as we hear about our big successes and start making plans for this Holiday…and next year. And if you’re Zooming please do sign up now so there’s no last-minute drama trying to join at showtime. Just click here and get set to Zoom!
