The Benzie County Democratic Party leads the way in supporting and electing Democratic candidates to represent our community at all levels of government. We communicate our values and goals to our more than 300 members—and the larger community—through our own and other organizations, as well as via individuals who share our values.
Benzie County Democratic Party Bylaws
As an affiliate of the Michigan Democratic Party, we follow party rules for organization and operation. Thus, every two years, in the August primary election, we elect precinct delegates who then convene and elect a local Party Committee. The Party Committee elects officers and conducts the party business at monthly meetings, which are held on the third Saturday of each month.
In addition, through our community action arm, the Benzie Blue Tigers, we support Benzie through food drives, forums, roadside cleanup for two Adopt-a-Highway sections, food drives, assistance with the Thompsonville Summer Fest, the Thompsonville Kid’s Christmas party, and other activities.
We communicate regularly with our members and the public through email, Facebook, and media outlets, and maintain a year-round headquarters on U.S. 31 in Honor.
